On 13th May at the Festival Mai aux éclatsin Andrézieux-Bouthéon (France) the world premiere of Emanuele Casale’s 11, for ensemble and electronic, will be performed by the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain under the direction of Daniel Kawka.
The composer explains that the work, commissioned by GRAME, is “balanced between ease and vigor. At the beginning its character is ambiguous: it alternates delicate outlines with momentary rhythmic jolts. The latter gradually gain the upper hand and the piece goes off in the direction of almost blunted contours and multicolored gestures, maintaining nonetheless a certain structural lucidity. Even the electronic sounds appear ambiguous: on the one hand, almost pure signals, held together with little accents of color and slight resonances and, on the other, crystalline timbres complex in structure.”
