A number of events have already taken place to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of Gérard Grisey. Notable amongst these was the recent publication by Éditions MF of a collection of the composer’s writings, edited by Guy Lelong, a friend of Grisey’s, and Anne-Marie Réby. Most of the texts in the volume Gérard Grisey: Écrits ou l’invention de la musique spectrale were drawn from the musician’s published works while some formerly unpublished material has come from the Paul Sacher Foundation and from private archives.
The initiatives to remember Grisey will continue in 2009. In Los Angeles on 16th February a monographic concert will take place. In Madrid, as part of musicadhoy, Vortex temporum and Le Noir de l`Etoile will be performed respectively on 27th January and 3rd March. On 29th January in Brussels, on the other hand, and later in Ghent on 28th March, Vortex temporum will be performed by the Ictus Ensemble. Finally, on 7th February the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Pascal Rophé will perform the grand cycle Les espaces acoustiques at the Barbican in London.
