Guo WenjingPoet Li Bai, opera by Guo Wenjing for four singers, choir and orchestra, will be performed on 4th and 6th December in Hong Kong (Grand Theatre) by the Hong Kong Sinfonietta under the baton of Yip Wing-Sie. The baritone Hao Jiang Tian, plays the title role; the direction is by Lin Zhaohua; costumes, sets and lighting designer by Yi Liming. The story told in the libretto, written by Diana Liao and Xu Ying, takes place in China and deals with the poet Li Bai, who lived in the VIII century under the Tang dynasty. In an attempt to find a solution to the meaning of life the poet, who lives in exile on a barge, engages in an introspective conversation with his alter egos: wine and the moon. After the world premiere which took place in Denver (July 2007) Poet Li Bai was premiered in Beijing (October 2007) and in Rome, as European premiere (May 2008).
