The contemporary music concert series the ‘Predihano Series of New Music’, which takes place in May every year at the congress centre Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana, has dedicated the 2011 edition to the composer Luigi Nono.
In the course of the six concerts, a large number the most significant compositions of the Italian master will be performed, all for the first time in Slovenia.
To lend even more prestige to the occasion, the Italian Institute of Culture in Ljubljana, together with the Cankarjev dom and the Archivio Nono, has organised a documentary exhibition entitled ‘Luigi Nono 1924 – 1990. Maestro of sounds and silences’. The exhibition is made up of 27 panels that illustrate chronologically the life and works of the composer.
On the 6th May André Richard, the director for many years of the Heinrich Strobel Foundation experimental studio of electronic music in Freiburg and a close collaborator of Nono in the realisation of many of his most important works, will hold a seminar on the opera Prometeo.
