In Venice from 3rd June - 11th July 2009 the Palazzo Cini gallery will host an exhibition entitled “Luigi Nono, a biography. Images from the Luigi Nono Archive”. Organized by the Luigi Nono Archive together with the Giorgio Cini Foundation (the two bodies have also organized the conference “The drama of sound in the opera of Luigi Nono” from 13th - 15th June at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini) and directed by Giorgio Mastinu. The exhibition is built around the archive’s own collection, recently enriched by way of the cataloguing and digitalization of the photos conserved by the composer’s sister, Rina. These documents offer an intimate view of the personal life of the composer, from his childhood to adolescence, from his student days in Venice and Padua to the years spent with his family. The exhibition features numerous hitherto unseen images offering testimony to Nono’s experience at the Italian Broadcasting Company’s Phonology Studio in Milan, his travels in Latin America, the years spent at the Experimentalstudio in Freiburg and his relations with the intellectual, political and artistic world in the course of his career.
