World premiere of Let me sing into your earfor horn basset and orchestra by Marco Stroppa on 17th October at the Donaueschinger Musiktage (at 11.30 am).
The Radio Kammerphilharmonie Hilversum is conducted by Peter Eötvos; Michele Marelli is the soloist. The piece is a commission of SWR.
The composer tells about this piece Just as in all the concertos that I have composed up to now, Let me sing into your ear is an exploration of the spatial dimensions of the stage and of «formal polyphonies». The basset horn, placed behind the orchestra so that it is visually removed, is replaced by a kind of «acoustic hologram» located in the soloist’s usual position and made up of five loudspeakers. The composition is based on a poem by William Butler Yeats.
