World premiere in Lecce, Teatro Politeama Greco, on 30th October for Roman Vlad’s Concerto italiano for piano and orchestra. The piece is dedicated to Carlo Grante, who is currently recording the opera omnia of the composer’s piano works for the record company Music & Arts. The Concerto is made up of two parts that follow on from each other without any clear break. The first bears the title Talee e Colori bachiani and is a imaginative metamorphosis of the first movement of J.S.Bach’s Italian Concerto for harpsichord. The second part is entitled Canti e danze napoletane with the theme - around which there develops a tarantella - drawn from one of the most time-honoured Neapolitan songs, Lu guarracino. The orchestra of the Fondazione ICO Tito Schipa will be conducted by Marco Zuccarini while Carlo Grante will be at the piano.
