As a guitarist he has studied under L. Canu, G. Ponce de Leon and M. Nalbandian and has participated in the master classes of numerous international interpreters such as R. Dyens, M. Colonna, E. Catemario and O. Ghiglia as well as in the courses at the Nuertingen Gitarrefestspiele with D. Russel, R. Boucher and A. York.

Sargenti has performed in a number of concerts both as a soloist and in chamber groups. He did an arts degree (Art, Music and Performance Studies) at the University of Bologna, writing a thesis on music theatre – in particular, on Adriano Guarnirei’s video opera Medea – and graduating with honours. He studied composition at the Bologna conservatory under Gian Paolo Lupi and attended the Darmstadt Ferienkurse in 2006. He is currently pursuing further studies in composition at the Istituto "O. Vecchi" in Modena under Antonio Giacometti.

As a composer he has received wide recognition and a number of awards:
